The classic beauty of a herringbone floor reflects the very best of flooring techniques. Herringbone flooring, is a method of laying wood blocks in a traditional wood parquet (parkett) pattern. The blocks are hand crafted to exacting standards providing a nearly a possible, tightly interlocking joints on all edges. Each block is locked to the surrounding blocks to give maximum strength, stability, and integrity to the floor.

Existing flooring -Removal of existing flooring or carpets

Damp treatment if the floor is not dry enough

Levelling of the floor if the floor is not even.

The choice of floor selected. Prices vary according to species of wood selected, thickness of the plank and different manufacturers.

Method of installation required. Floors can either be glued down, click system, or nailed down.

Floor plan – How simple or complicated the floor plan is. Staircases require more labour hours and additional material costs compared to a normal floor.

The design selected – subway, herringbone, parquet and chevron, basket weave. Complex designs require more skill and labour hours.

Wastage. We factor in possible wastage in the quantity of materials required this is normally around 10%,

Profiles/mouldings – Gaps and joints in the flooring are covered using different types of profiles.

Oils and sealants – Unfinished hardwood floors must be sealed using oil-based sealants, stains, primers, or polyurethane varnishes. These finishing products vary in price according to quality and the type of installation.

Skirtings – At TWF we offer a wide range of skirting types (aluminium and wood). Price varies for different designs, thickness, and species of wood.
